Description
The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN)'s mission is to improve the quality of life of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in the face of climate change. Established in 2010, CDKN supports countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America in the design and implementation of climate-compatible development strategies. Since 2018, the program has been led by SouthSouthNorth (SSN), based in South Africa, in collaboration with Fundación FuturoLatinoamericano (FFLA) and ICLEI South Asia. The third phase of the CDKN, from July 2022 to January 2027, focuses on climate-resilient, inclusive and gender-responsive development. It targets three priority areas: resilience financing, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), and ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA). ENDA Energie, implementing partner of the CDKN program in Senegal for the period from November 1, 2023 to December 28, 2026, will coordinate and implement program activities, integrating gender equality and social inclusion into policies local communities, facilitating access to equitable financing for resilient climate initiatives, and promoting ecosystem-based adaptation approaches.

Goals
Promote climate-resilient, gender-responsive and socially inclusive development in Senegal. To achieve this objective, the project focuses on three priority areas of action: Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI): Support the integration of gender and social inclusion in policies and practices. Financing for resilience: Enable access to appropriate and equitable financing for climate-resilient development. Ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA): Strengthen the implementation of ecosystem-based adaptation in a manner that is equitable and adapted to local conditions.

Expected results
Mainstreaming GESI: Design and implementation of adaptation projects and policies integrating gender and social inclusion, mobilization of resources by marginalized groups for adaptation, and sharing of lessons learned. Financing for Resilience: Increasing access to appropriate and equitable local financing, developing fundable projects and increasing private sector financing for local resilience solutions. Ecosystem-based adaptation: Improving awareness of knowledge on EbA approaches, designing and implementing EbA, and facilitating equitable and locally adapted EbA.
