The COP28 marked a significant milestone with the adoption of the "Consensus des Émirats Arabes Unis," paving the way for substantial funding and emphasizing the need to intensify efforts in adaptation and emissions reduction to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The operational launch of the fund for losses and damages, with over $792 million US dollars in declared contributions, constitutes a historic achievement.
The Debriefing Workshop organized by ENDA ENERGIE in partnership with the African Climate Foundation and the Ford Foundation provided an in-depth exploration of these accomplishments and examined the way forward. Discussions delved into the implications of the agreements for non-state actors, highlighting emerging opportunities and persistent challenges. Simultaneous exchanges among participants from Dakar, Kolda, Saly, Saint-Louis, Ghana, Niger, Burkina Faso, Togo, revealed a collective commitment to the effective implementation of decisions made at COP28.
